CLEARWATER, Kan. (KAKE) - It was a win-win at Klausmeyer Dairy Farm and Pumpkin Patch in Clearwater on Saturday morning.

Kids got to be kids while foster parents enjoyed being celebrated for their commitment to helping children and not giving up on them.

The national organization Eckerd Connects holds this event annually and commitment is the one thing it looks at when honoring these parents.

"Each one of our foster parents brings a different strength to the table and we can honor them for different reasons but the ones that we honored today have been with us fostering for at least five years and we have some foster families that have been fostering over 20 years," said the organization's operations director Ellen Standlee.

Standlee said each of their foster parents brings different strengths to the table and they are honored for different reasons.

LaShonda Abbott was one of the foster parents being honored on Saturday for her five-plus years of foster care service.

Standlee said fostering not only impacts these kids but also future generations.
