WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - Miguel Rodela, the man arrested for sexually assaulting multiple people at a local hospital, is pleading guilty on charges of rape, attempted rape, and battery.

Friday morning Rodela was scheduled to have a preliminary hearing. This is a hearing that decides if the state has enough evidence against him to take the case to trial. However Rodela chose to skip the preliminary hearing and enter a guilty plea.

"To count one rape, a severity level one personal felony how do you plea?" asked district court Judge Bruce Brown to Rodela at the Sedgwick County Courthouse.

"Guilty," Rodela said in response.

He pleaded guilty to one count of rape, two counts of attempted rape, and two counts of battery against three patients at Via Christi St. Francis.

In the courtroom, Judge Brown read the details and alleged facts of the sexual assaults Rodela was being charged for and asked if each one was true.

"You Miguel Rodela got on top of the individual with the initials T as in Tango W as in Whiskey in bed toward the perpetration of the crime of rape. Is each and every fact and element as I recited accurate?"

Rodela said they were.

Court documents show Rodela went into the hospital by following an employee. He then went into three different rooms and posed as a nurse or family member in each case.

The court affidavit shows he told investigators he had been drinking before the incident and he was having sexual fantasies about hospital patients. He admitted to police he contacted three patients and possibly a fourth by rubbing and kissing on them until they woke up.

After Rodela entered his plea Judge Brown found him guilty on one count of rape, two counts of attempted rape, and two counts of battery.

Rodela's sentencing is scheduled for November 9th of this year.

All three of the patients who were assaulted have filed lawsuits against the hospital.
