WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - One woman is dead and a second is critically hurt following a shooting in southeast Wichita. A suspect was taken into custody following a brief standoff.

Officers were called to the 800 block of S. Mission near Lincoln and Woodlawn just before 11:30 p.m. Thursday. Police said 48-year-old Adraine Kenney was pronounced dead at the scene and a 22-year-old woman was taken to the hospital for treatment. 

Wichita Police Officer Kris Gupilan says the 30-year-old male suspect was found nearby inside a home. He was peacefully taken into custody after an hour-long standoff in the 600 block of S. Mission.

The suspect was arrested for 1st degree murder, attempted 1st degree murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, two counts of aggravated burglary and four counts of kidnapping.

Police say the victims and the suspect know each other and were all involved in a disturbance that led to the shooting.
