Former Wichita police captain charged with felony computer crimes

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - Former Wichita Police Captain Wendell Nicholson has been charged with eight felony counts of computer crimes.
Friday afternoon, March 24, 2023, the Wichita Police Department was notified that former WPD Captain Wendell Nicholson has been criminally charged by the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office on eight counts of computer crimes.
Nicholson made his first court appearance Thursday. His next court date is scheduled for May 25.
Nicholson had been with the Wichita Police Department for 29 years prior to retiring. His last day with the department was March 23rd.
Due to this being an ongoing legal matter, the WPD and the city of Wichita said that they will not have further comment.
