Crime Stoppers: Gunman opens fire on Wichita homeowner
WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A Wichita man was gunned down at his front door earlier this month in the 2600 block of east Mossman. A neighbor's security camera caught the horrifying incident.
The video shows a man using his keys to get in his front door when all of a sudden you hear gunfire.
The homeowner fell to the ground. You see the gunman run into view while still firing. He then runs out of sight. We counted at least 18 gunshots.
"Things happen around here,” said neighbor Alan Gray. “It’s a good thing I work a lot."
Most neighbors declined an on-camera interview but say what happened on the night of January 7 is terrifying.
"The victim did survive,” said Crime Stoppers Coordinator Trevor Macy. “He was treated for multiple gunshot wounds. We've had limited cooperation at this point so we are reaching out to the public to see if they can help us."
Police say the suspect appears to be white or Hispanic with long hair.
They hope someone will recognize him.
"We are actively working to bring down violent crime,” said Macy. “We are taking an aggressive stance, and we want to hold him accountable and make sure he's not out there able to commit these crimes again."
