WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - Wichita police hope someone can help them find a man who used a board to rob a west Wichita convenience store.

Surveillance video from just outside the PE gas station at Central and Ridge Road shows what happened on December 20 at 8:45 in the morning.

The video shows a man standing on the side of the building for several minutes. Then you see him walk around to the front of the convenience store. He quickly came back and picked up a piece of wood and then went inside the store.

"He swung the piece of wood at the employee which is an assault and stole the cash, a substantial amount of cash," said Crime Stoppers Coordinator Officer Trevor Macy.

The video then shows the man tossing the wood and it then looks like he's counting the money as he runs away.

"It's kind of shocking,” said PE customer Azekial Schroeder. He said he bowls in the business next door and now he worries.

Police hope someone will recognize the suspect, from the way he dressed to the way he walks.

"We want to see this guy held accountable,” said Macy.

The store clerk described the robber as being a black man about 45 years old with a heavy build. He was wearing black and had a light blue face mask and black stocking cap on. If you know anything call Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
