WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - All eyes were on Wichita State senior guard Craig Porter Jr. coming into this season and on opening night, he delivered. Porter dropped a career-high 22 points to power the Shockers to a 79-55 win over Central Arkansas.

"You know I just knew coming back this year and coming into the season, I was going to have to do two times more what I did last year so coach having that confidence in me, and my teammates all giving me that confidence, it's just going to take me to another level and just have a great effect on all of us," Porter Jr. said.

It was a balanced scoring attack around Porter. In his debut, center Quincy Ballard dropped 10 points and five rebounds highlights by some monster dunks. Jaykwon Walton and James Rojas both had nine in their WSU introductions.

The Shockers led from start to finish and did some work on the defensive end, forcing 14 turnovers while tallying six steals and six blocks. 12 Shockers saw the floor and scored in the win

Up next for the Shockers is Alcorn State on Saturday in the Roundhouse.  Game time is 3:00 p.m. and it will be broadcast on ESPN+
