WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - Travis Shaw has been sentenced to 96 months in prison with 36 months post release for running over and killing another man in southeast Wichita in 2019.

The charges were voluntary manslaughter and interference with law enforcement.

At the time officers responded to a carjacking in the 900 block of South Mission, near Lincoln and Woodlawn. They arrived to find Travis Shaw who had called 911 and then located David Lee pinned underneath a Chrysler 300 in the front yard of a home. Police said that Shaw and Lee knew each other.

Lee died of his injuries at the scene. 

Officers and investigators then spoke with witnesses and reviewed evidence which led to Shaw's arrest for second-degree reckless murder.

Shaw has also been ordered to register as a violent offender.
