WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A 36-year-old Haysville man has been sentenced to nearly 21 years in prison for the death of his 4-month-old daughter in 2018.

Sedgwick County District Judge Eric Williams sentenced Andrew Franklin to 250 months on Monday. He pleaded no contest in April to second-degree murder and child abuse in the death of Brexley Grace Franklin.

Brexley died on September 13, 2018, after five days in the hospital. Haysville police responded to assist EMS on the report of a child having a seizure at an apartment complex in the 400 block of Sarah Lane. It was discovered at the hospital that Brexley had internal injuries.
probable cause affidavit stated that Brexley suffered a skull fracture, retinal hemorrhages and bruising to her jawline.

Franklin was initially charged with first-degree murder and two counts of child abuse.

Records show Franklin has been in jail since his arrest in January 2019. Kansas Department of Corrections records show he has served time in prison and on Community Corrections for theft and burglary.
