Senior Pastor Jackie Carter of First Metropolitan Community Church of Wichita, wants you to know their Table of Hope food pantry is ready to help if you’re in need.

“We’re having to work with a lot of grace, which we are very happy to do. Because many of the folks that come now, they’ve never done a food pantry, so they don’t know how to do that,” said Pastor Jackie Carter.

Now serving about 1,200 people a week, they are having to completely change the way they once operated.

From new social distancing guidelines, disinfecting, finding food when the shelves are bare, and helping thousands who didn’t need their help before the pandemic. In addition to those who already depended on their services.

“We are currently serving people that were employed. And so, they weren’t using food pantry services. They weren’t having to depend on anyone else to help them. So, this is a new opportunity for them, a new adventure so to speak,” said Pastor Carter.

If you are able to, you can give a cash donation on their website.

If you’re in need, that’s also where you can schedule a pick-up time.

Even though the pandemic has completely changed the way this food pantry operates…they know the extra work is worth it.

“I have seen more kindness doing our food delivery this way. And the new people that we are encountering that are just overcome with the generosity and the gratitude. And that feeds my soul. That builds me up and reminds me that, we are not all in the same place of this. But we are all called to work together to solve it,” said Pastor Carter.

To help with their mission, KAKE TV and DeVaughn James Injury Lawyers are honored to have them as this week’s, “Wins for Kansas.”

“Thank you so much KAKE and DeVaughn James for this wonderful gift. This will enable our food pantry to continue to reach out in new ways, to new people who just need a little bit of a hand up right now during this crisis. And we are very, very grateful for your gift and your generosity,” said Pastor Carter.
