Authorities say a 47-year-old man was killed when he crashed his car head-on into a semi in southwest Kansas.

The accident happened just after 10 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. Route 160 about seven miles west of Johnson City. The Kansas Highway Patrol reports Justin Frey was heading west when his Chevy Malibu crossed the center line and hit an oncoming tractor-trailer.

Frey, of Satanta, died at the scene. The patrol's online crash log states he was not wearing a seat belt.

The 36-year-old driver of the semi, Bekzod Yazov, was taken to a local hospital for treatment. He's from British Columbia, Canada.
