It wasn't police who broke the Lucas Hernandez case, but rather a private investigator from North Carolina.

He spoke to KAKE News from his home, taking us through the moments he found Lucas' body.

David Marshburn says it didn't take long, and that Emily Glass was the key.

"She was with me at the time they found Lucas," he says. "I needed her to find Lucas because I knew she was the key. And that she was responsible for him missing."

He denies reports that Glass already knew Lucas was dead.

Marshburn says he has the gift of being able to detect subtle clues in order to find missing people, with translating body language being a key component that proved vital in the search for Lucas.

"Our body does the opposite of what we're saying if it's a lie. And if it's the truth, it coincides with what we're doing what we're stating."

He says his meeting with Emily Glass and Lucas's father Jonathan, was important.

""My person of interest was Jonathan and Emily but and I told him that. He said, I'm an open book to you."

Already home in North Carolina, Marshburn says this search took a toll, but that he's grateful to play a role in solving a months-old mystery - even though it was the saddest possible outcome.
