The Wichita Public Library is scheduled to close its doors on Sunday, May 6th.

Library officials say preparations are in place to relocate to the new building at 711 West 2nd Street.

A list of services are set to be interrupted as library officials work to relocate things into the new building, such as: 

  • Customers who designate the Central Library as their preferred pickup location for materials placed on hold will be asked to collect those items from the branch library of their choice.
  • Book drop service at the Central Library will be suspended as of May 6. Materials may be returned to branch libraries or to the after hours materials return at the Advanced Learning Library beginning on May 7.

An opening date for the new downtown library has not been decided.
