WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - Ascension Via Christi has treated 41 people for fireworks-related injuries as of early Friday afternoon.

A spokesperson for Via Christi said the health system saw 18 outpatient visits, 16 emergency room visits for patients with minor injuries and seven patients who needed to be seen in the burn ICU. The numbers were for the fireworks season as of noon.

Most ER visit injuries were to the hands and feet. Of those, several received injuries to the bottom of their feet because they weren't wearing shoes. In the ICU, all seven burn injuries are non-life-threatening.

The spokesperson said there is a chance they get more patients throughout the day on Friday.
