WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A Wichita man was arrested on Independence Day in connection to two armed robberies that recently occurred in Garden City.

The Garden City Police Department says 49-year-old Alberto Rincon, of Wichita, was taken into custody following a police pursuit Thursday after they conducted a traffic stop on his vehicle. The pursuit traveled east out of the city before ending on Hillcrest Road. Rincon then ran from the vehicle before being apprehended.

Officers located a firearm and drugs on Rincon. No injuries were reported from the pursuit.

The arrest stems from two armed robberies that occurred in Garden City in May and July.

On May 4, GCPD officers responded to an armed robbery at 308 W. Fulton Street where a man entered the business, held an employee at gunpoint and stole property before fleeing.

On July 1, officers were called to 1203 E. Fulton Street for an armed robbery and learned a man held employees and customers at gunpoint before leaving with an unknown amount of money.

Rincon was identified as the suspect responsible for both robberies, GCPD says.

Rincon is lodged in the Finney County Jail on numerous charges from the armed robberies and police pursuit including:
