ATWOOD, Kan. (KAKE) - A northwest Kansas school that was damaged by fire last summer is being demolished.

Two teenagers set the Rawlins County Junior/Senior High School on fire on June 5, 2023, along with an additional fire at the Atwood Grade School. The fire resulted in severe damage to the building, as well as injuring 10 firefighters, and the Rawlins County school district being forced to implement alternative measures for the 2023-24 school year.

The teens were found guilty of aggravated arson and attempted arson, and were sentenced to 30 months in prison in March.

In a Facebook post, the district said demolition began last week. A live stream documenting the demolition has been set up, with a link to the stream at the bottom of this story.
