PERRY, Kan. (KAKE) - A 24-year-old man has died following a single-vehicle crash in northeast Kansas, the highway patrol says.

The accident happened at around 11 a.m. Thursday on U.S. 24 about a mile east of the U.S. 59 junction in Jefferson County. That's a few miles north of Lawrence. The patrol reports a northbound Buick LeSabre left the roadway to the right and went into the ditch. The car then rolled, struck a utility pole and caught fire.

The car was fully engulfed, the KHP says, and the driver, Ethan Wayne Fisher of Holton, died at the scene. He was the only person in the vehicle.

It's unclear what caused Fisher's vehicle to go off the road.
