Spirit AeroSystems CFO Mark Suchinski has resigned after 18 years amid the Wichita company's ongoing cash-flow struggles and problems brought in part by a manufacturing slowdown of Boeing commercial jets.

Board member and former Time Warner Cable vice president Irene Esteves replaces Suchinski immediately, though Spirit (NYSE: SPR) said in a two-paragraph statement Wednesday that Suchinski will remain through a transition period.

"Her extensive experience and her remarkable instincts and financial acumen will be invaluable as we continue to drive our strategic initiatives and deliver value to our teammates, customers and shareholders," said interim CEO Patrick Shahanan, himself picked from the Spirit board eight months ago to replace Tom Gentile.
