WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - Authorities say an hourslong standoff has ended in west Wichita on Sunday with one person in custody.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office says one person was taken into custody around 7 p.m. Sunday after an hours-long standoff involving the SWAT team at a west Wichita home.

Authorities say the standoff started when deputies responded to the report of a stolen car around 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the 6200 block of south Ridge Road.

The stolen vehicle was located approximately an hour later at a residence in the area of N. Young and St. Louis St. Deputies arrived at the residence and attempted to speak to a man inside the home, who refused to come outside.

The sheriff's office says other deputies as well as the SWAT team also responded to the residence where they made several more attempts to get the individual to come outside. All attempts were unsuccessful and deputies made forced entry into the home, where several juveniles and another adult were.

Authorities say the juveniles and adult were taken downtown and one adult male was taken into custody.
