WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A popular ice cream shop in College Hill will be closing its doors for good in the near future.

Owners of Churn & Burn say they will be closing the shop to spend more time with family.

"It's with a bittersweet heart that we announce the closure of our ice cream shop," the owners said on Facebook on Thursday morning. "While there were many factors that led to this decision, ultimately, it came down to family. Serving our community and welcoming you all into our little shop felt like a second home, a place where we built connections and shared laughter like family. But nothing can replace the precious time spent with our own child. The decision to close was not an easy one, but we realized that the time we have is a precious gift, and we want to spend it creating lasting memories with our family."

While no set time on the closure was stated, the company says the space at 548 S. Oliver is available furnished and ready "for someone else's dream of opening an ice cream shop to come true."

In a social media post Thursday morning, the owners thanked the community for their support.

"Thank you, Wichita, for your unwavering support and for being a part of our journey," the company said. "We will cherish the memories we've made with each and every one of you. Remember, time is fleeting, so spend it wisely, making the most of every moment."
