KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KAKE) - The trial date for the first civil lawsuit against Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice's involvement in a late March crash has been set, KMBC-TV reports.

Online court records show that the trial will begin on December 9, 2024, in the 101st Civil District Court of Dallas County, Texas.

Kamlesh Desai is seeking over $1 million in the lawsuit.

It's one of two civil lawsuits filed against Rice and Theodore Knox.

A police affidavit obtained by KMBC says Rice was driving 119 miles per hour on a Dallas freeway shortly before the crash. A second vehicle, a Corvette driven by Knox and registered to Rice, was driving 116 miles per hour. Rice's attorney confirmed that Rice was driving during the hit-and-run crash that left four people injured.

Rice requested both lawsuits to be dismissed earlier this month.

The trial date is hours after the Chiefs are scheduled to take on the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday Night Football.
