WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - Police have arrested a second suspect in the shooting death of a 35-year-old man in east Wichita last week.

Sedgwick County Jail records show 29-year-old Kevin Thomas was booked Monday for first-degree murder. Another suspect, 32-year-old Victor Baxter, was booked Saturday for first-degree murder, criminal discharge of a firearm and criminal possession of a firearm. He remains jailed on $1 million bond.

The arrests stem from the May 6 death of Isaiah Gails.

WPD spokesperson Lt. Aaron Moses said officers heard gunshots near the 2800 block of East Douglas at around 2 a.m. and located a vehicle with Gails inside. Police said the shooting didn't appear to be random.

Anyone with information related to this case is asked to contact WPD detectives at 316-268-4407. Those wishing to remain anonymous may reach out to Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.

Kansas Department of Corrections records show Baxter has two prior drug convictions. His Sedgwick County booking record showed three pending counts of aggravated assault, but it's unclear to which case(s) those are connected.
