WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - After nearly a decade of spending mornings with KAKEland viewers and welcoming them into a new day by saying "Good Morning Kansas," Shane Ewing is leaving KAKE News to pursue a new career opportunity.

"It's especially difficult to say 'goodbye' when I've had the opportunity to be the first person to say 'hello' in the morning to so many people who watch our show," he said. "I never had a bad day at work, because my days always started with such a unique positive energy."

Shane came to KAKE in 2011 and led the Sports department as Sports Director until 2015 when he began to serve in his longtime post as morning news anchor. He quickly became a reliable and friendly face for morning viewers who appreciated his blend of humor, creativity and credibility.

"My goal was to build trust and make friends. And I made a lot of them. Whether they were in the studio with me or watching at home, I just wanted to walk with people as they began their day. It was a simple goal that turned into a life-changing honor," he said.

Although Shane will remain in Wichita, his life will change again in June when he joins Edward Jones as a financial advisor.

"I love how TV enables people to feel connected to me and take an interest in my life. Now I get to search for opportunities to connect with others, take a special interest in their lives and help them succeed," he said. "And I do so with confidence that KAKE and I got a healthy return on our investment in each other."

Shane’s final broadcast will take place June 5th.
