MIAMI COUNTY Kan. (KAKE) - Two people were arrested over the weekend after Kansas wildlife officials say they were poaching turkeys on a landowner's property.

The rural Miami County landowner reported the incident just after 6 p.m. Saturday. The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks said on its game wardens Facebook page that the local sheriff's office responded, along with Warden Falls K-9 Indy.

Warden Falls seized two turkeys, three .22 rifles and an air rifle. The shooter was arrested for multiple wildlife violations.

"After the scene was cleared and everyone had left, Indy started into an area search for any more evidence," KDWP said. "Shortly after that, another suspect came out of the woods with his hands up.

That suspect was also arrested. No names have been released.

"Indy was sent back out to search and located another freshly dead hen turkey in the woods."
