CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. - Military officials have identified a Marine who died during a late-night training exercise this week.

The incident happened just after 11 p.m. on Thursday at the Marine Corps Base Camp Lejune where the Marine was assigned to the Maritime Special Purpose Force, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit.

Authorities identified the man as Sgt. Colin Arslanbas was recently promoted on April 1 to the rank of Sgt. and served as a Reconnaissance Marine with the MSPF. 

His decorations include the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal. He enlisted on March 16, 2020, according to the Marine Corps

The incident is still under investigation, II MEF says.
