WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A man with a gun walked into Patrol South Monday evening prompting a heavy police presence in the area. 

Police say a man was able to enter the station near Pawnee and Broadway around 7 p.m. through a back door that was malfunctioning and should have been locked. Police then say he put a gun to his head and asked officers to shoot him.

Officers were able to convince the man to give up his firearm and surrender.

The intersection of Pawnee and Broadway was closed for a time during the incident and while officers worked the scene
