HAYSVILLE, Kan. (KAKE) - An early morning house fire has left a vacant home in Haysville destroyed.

Just after 3:20 a.m. Thursday, police officers in the area of the 8000 block of south Vesta in Haysville -- near US 81 and 79th street -- reported a house fire with flames and smoke showing. Sedgwick County Fire, Wichita Fire Department, and Derby Fire were at the scene and able to control the fire within 20 minutes.

Officials on scene report that there was no one inside the home at the time of the fire and that all damage was contained to the property.

A Sedgwick County Fire battalion chief says that the trees surrounding the house had also caught fire but that they were not the cause of the flames.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
