WHITEWATER, Kan. (KAKE) - Butler County authorities suspect alcohol was involved in a crash that killed a 59-year-old man on Wednesday.

The crash happened around 6 p.m. at NW 100th Street and NW Tawakoni Road near Whitewater. Undersheriff Damion Cundiff said a passerby driving down the road saw the wrecked pickup truck and trailer and called 911.

The undersheriff said the investigation indicates the driver, Blake Randall Strasser of rural Whitewater, was heading west when he lost control and drove into a tree row on the north side of 100th Street. He died at the scene.

"Preliminary investigation indicates that Strasser was not wearing a seatbelt and alcohol is suspected, but not confirmed, to be a factor," Cundiff said.

No one else was in the vehicle.
