WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - Wichita Wind Surge president Jay Miller, like many Wichitans, can't wait to take in some baseball as spring begins.

"It's a Friday night with fireworks and just the whole atmosphere of everybody around you, when it's opening day," Miller said. "There's something really special about it."

He said that the team and Riverfront Stadium have some fun new events in store.

Including, the team changing its name to the 'Wichita Chili Buns' for the games on April 19th and 20th.

"We'll be wearing these awesome jerseys that you can see and amazing caps," says Wind Surge Promotions Manager Alvin Garcia. "So we'll be selling chili bowls on top of cinnamon rolls. So it's something unique that we're going to do but also we're just going to have unique colors on the field itself."

The combination of chili and cinnamon rolls is a well known staple of Kansas cuisine.

Some people are excited about the new name.

One Instagram user saying, "This looks gas."

As for Wind Surge employees, they're unsurprisingly in the pro chili and cinnamon rolls column.

"I thought, Man, that doesn't sound very good to me. And then I tried it. It was delicious," Miller said. "I ate it the other day when they were sampling it and it was really good."

"There's no reason not to like it," says Tim Grubbs, the voice of the Wichita Wind Surge. "I mean, if you like cinnamon buns, and you like chili, and you put them together. I mean, I grew up eating chili in a different way. But you know, I love it."

"I'm not going to lie to you. It's kind of amazing," Garcia said. "I am those people that you dip it in or you put it on top of it. I'm a huge fan."

Garcia said that a number of Chili Buns hats and jerseys have already been sold online.
