WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - Since the Wichita Wind Surge's inaugural 2021 season, the team has assumed alternate identities for certain games: the Turbo Tubs, the Tumba Vacas, The Monrovians, and even the Wranglers, a nod to the previous minor-league baseball team that resided in the Air Capitol from 1987-2007.

This season, the team will continue that tradition, as they will be re-branding as the Wichita Chili Buns for two games against Tulsa on April 19 and 20. The name comes from the Midwest comfort food pairing of chili and cinnamon rolls.

To capitalize on the name, Riverfront Stadium's concession stands will offer a cinnamon roll with a cup of chili, and the team will also have several promotions that weekend to pair with the food.

Player jerseys will be crimson red colored, with 'Wichita Chili Buns' scripted across the chest in cream, and details along the side of the jersey in cream color. The cap will be a cream-colored hat with a crimson brim and piping hot bowl of chili with the cinnamon roll topped with icing. 'Chili Buns' hats and jerseys will be available for sale through the Wind Surge's team store.

The Surge open their season on April 5 at Riverfront Stadium against the Frisco RoughRiders.
