Driver not expected to survive crash in Oaklawn; alcohol suspected
WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A 29-year-old woman is not expected to survive a crash that may have involved alcohol just outside Wichita on Sunday evening.
The crash happened at around 9:45 p.m. in the 4200 block of South Greenhaven in the Oaklawn area. Lt. Nathan Gibbs with the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office said a GMC SUV left the residential roadway a struck a tree.
The driver and sole occupant was found unresponsive and transported to a local hospital.
"She was still alive but not expected to live," Lt. Gibbs said Monday morning. "Alcohol is suspected to be a factor and is still under investigation."
This was the first of two suspected alcohol-released crashes in the Wichita area Sunday night. Both involved critical injuries.
