Bars and fans get ready for back-to-back Chiefs Super Bowl appearances

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -  Fans and businesses across Kansas are getting ready to watch The Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl for the second year in a row.

There’s a Chiefs Kingdom sign in front of The Pumphouse in Wichita, and fans are excited to see the Chiefs hopefully win another Super Bowl. Some stores even have have Super Champs merch on standby already.

"Go Chiefs,” said Fans.

Super Bowl weekend is almost here and this is the 4th time in 5 years the Chiefs have made it to the big game.

"We've kind of got a bit of an idea of what to expect. And that's a lot of people, a lot of food going out of the kitchen, and a lot of people here having a good time watching the game,” said Daron Adelgren, Pumphouse General Manager.

The Pumphouse in Old Town expects it to be standing room only on Sunday.

"We fully anticipate our crowd that comes late night on Friday and Saturday nights to be respectful and take care of what we have here,” said Adelgren.

They expect people of all ages to take photos with the Chiefs Kingdom sign through Super Bowl Sunday.

"I’m pretty confident, I think we're going to win,” said Rhianon Giffin.

"There's no pretty confident. We are confident,” said Courtney Myers.

If the Chiefs do become back-to-back Super Bowl Champs, you'll be able to get Super Bowl Champs gear. Academy Sports and Outdoors already has the merch, but employees can't open the boxes unless the Chiefs win on Sunday.

"Monday morning we will re-open at 7 a.m. and it will be ready to sell. You guys can line up and come and get it,” said Blake Keirsey, Academy Sports and Outdoors Manager.

Those boxes have to remain sealed until the Super Bowl is over. And if the Chiefs lose, the gear goes back to the vendor.
