Man charged with second degree murder after Wichita shooting
WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - Yancy Hermosillo has been charged with second degree murder in the fatal shooting of 35-year-old LaDonte Ostrander.
The Wichita Police Department said the shooting took place in the 900 block of South Market. Ostrander was found with a gunshot wound and was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Hermosillo was arrested days later and booked into the Sedgwick County Jail for first-degree murder and interference with law enforcement. According to Kansas Department of Corrections records, Hermosillo has prior convictions in Finney County that include criminal threat, domestic battery and aggravated interference with parental custody. The 37-year-old was officially charged with second degree murder on Monday.
Wichita police later arrested 27-year-old Robert Howland in connection to the shooting. He is scheduled to be charged later this week.
