Maize woman dies after crashing into stopped semi on K-96, patrol says
HAVEN, Kan. (KAKE) - A 23-year-old woman from Maize died in a crash on K-96 in Reno County.
It happened just after noon Wednesday in the westbound lanes about a half-mile west of Arlington Road, near Haven. The Kansas Highway Patrol says a semi was partially blocking the driving lane while helping a stranded motorist. That's when, for an unknown reason, Jaedyn Douglas' Kia SUV struck the back corner of the semi. Her vehicle spun and came to a rest on the shoulder.
Douglas died died at the scene. KHP reports a juvenile was in the car with her, but the child's information has not been released.
A 21-year-old pedestrian on scene had suspected minor injuries.
