Body found in Kansas river identified as missing 57-year-old woman, officials say

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Kan. (KAKE) - The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says they have identified a body found in the Kansas River last week.

The DGSO says just before 1:15 p.m. on December 21, a person reported seeing a body in the water about 300 yards east of the Bowersock Dam. The Douglas County Underwater Search and Recovery team and DGSO investigators responded and recovered a body in shallow water in the area.

The sheriff's office reported that the body was identified Friday as 57-year-old Melinda Sue McCluskey. She was reported missing to law enforcement by her family members on December 3.

Authorities say there is no indication of foul play and results of a coroner's report are pending.
