Runaway 12-year-old girl found safe, Dodge City police say
DODGE CITY, Kan. (KAKE) - Dodge City police said in a Facebook post at 2:42 p.m. that the girl was located and is safe.
Police in southwest Kansas are asking for the public's help in locating a runaway 12-year-old girl who may be in a vulnerable mental state.
The Dodge City Police Department said the girl was last seen at her home at around 7:15 a.m. Thursday. She was wearing a gray DCMS (Dodge City Middle School) Cardinal sweatshirt and jeans. She may also be carrying a black backpack and a pink bag.
While she was last seen in the 2800 block of Hennessey Court, her direction of travel is unknown, police said.
"Melany is believed to be in a vulnerable state and may be suicidal," DCPD said on Facebook.
