CHANUTE, Kan. (KAKE) - A 68-year-old man was killed Thursday night when his car crashed into a semi on a highway in southeast Kansas.
The accident happened shortly after 10 p.m. on K-39 just west of Chanute. The Kansas Highway Patrol says Danny Romine was heading east when his car crossed the center line and collided with an oncoming tractor-trailer in the westbound lane.
Romine, of Chanute, died at the scene. The 58-year-old man driving the semi was not hurt.
It's unclear why Romine's car went into oncoming traffic.
