WINFIELD, Kan. (KAKE) - The Isle of Lights at Winfield's Island Park closed Wednesday night after a tractor-trailer caused damage to the bridge display.

"Unfortunately, the park has had extensive damage done to the bridge and we have to close for the night," a post on the Isle of Light's Facebook page says. "Sorry for the inconvenience."

People posted video and pictures of the incident in the Facebook post's comments section.

A display spokesperson told the Cowley Post that there was damage to the arch and lights over the bridge entrance. Police have been contacted.

Witnesses said the semi driver continued through the park and left. Volunteers reportedly were unsuccessful in stopping the rig from entering.

Isle of Lights, located at 200 Main Street, could reopen Thursday night.

Anyone with information about the incident or the semi driver can call Winfield police at (620) 221-5447.
