Woman steals car, leads Kansas police on 'blinding' chase, found hiding under farm equipment
LAWRENCE, Kan. (KAKE) - A woman led police in a "blinding" police chase Saturday night in northeast Kansas.
The Lawrence Police Department said at about 10:15 p.m. a driver called 911 to report a car driving with no lights on Bob Billings near Kasold. The caller said she almost hit him and another vehicle, according to police.
LPD shared a video of the intense encounter on their Facebook page Sunday, stating that when an officer attempted to pull the car over, the driver took off.
"She continued west on Bob Billings past K10 to 800 Road, then south for a while until turning onto private property through a fence and field," LPD said. "She got out of the car and ran. Officers set up a perimeter and launched the drone but ultimately, an officer spotted her under the equipment."
The woman had outstanding warrants and was suspected of driving under the influence and various other crimes, according to police.
