WARREN COUNTY, Ohio (KAKE) - A 21-year-old Ohio man has been charged in connection to a wrong-way crash that killed a police department's K-9 officer.
WKRC reports Michael Sims is charged with two counts of felonious assault, one against and officer and one against a police dog.
The crash happened Saturday in Franklin. Two officers and K-9 Fury were on patrol when a Jeep driving the wrong way crashed into the cruiser at high speed. A prosecutor said the Jeep neared 90 mph just before it hit the police vehicle.
The Jeep then went off the road and hit a tree.
K-9 Fury was taken to an emergency veterinarian but passed away. The two officers and Sims had minor injuries.
