Teen dies after fiery crash on Kansas highway, patrol says

SYRACUSE, Kan. (KAKE) - The Kansas Highway Patrol says a young man has died after his car went airborne and crashed before catching fire early Sunday morning.
The accident happened at around 2:15 a.m. on U.S. 50/400 about five miles west of Syracuse in Hamilton County. The patrol reports 18-year-old Ronny Gavarrete was heading east when his Nissan Altima crossed the center line, drove over the north guardrail and became airborne. The car then struck a bridge retailing wall and caught fire.
Gavarrete, of Syracuse, died at the scene. It's unclear what caused his car to leave the roadway.
