WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - The Wichita Police Department has released a crime statistics report for October. The department says while many areas saw declines, there were also some areas of concern.

The report shows that, compared to September, there were several decreases, including rape cases (down 30.5%), robberies (down 3.23%), non-fatal shootings (18.2%), and aggravated assault cases (1.62%). In addition, burglary cases saw a nearly 10% drop, larceny was down just a little over 1%, stolen vehicles fell nearly 16.5%, criminal damage declined by nearly 2.5%, and vehicle accident cases dropped 1%.

However, there were two areas which saw increases: fraud/forgery cases saw a 10% jump, and vehicle theft rose nearly 4%.

Altogether, WPD saw 17,232 service calls, 934 accident calls, 1,643 arrests, 9 non-fatal shooting calls, and 57 non-fatal overdose calls.
