SEDGWICK, Kan. (KAKE) - A south-central Kansas police chief that was being investigated into misconduct allegations has resigned.

Back on October 18, Chief Lee Nygaard was placed on paid administrative leave per an investigation into multiple allegations of misconduct. In a release, City Administrator Kyle Nordick says that the city found the allegations that were brought forth, 'to be substantiated and a violation of departmental and city policies.' Nordick adds that Nygaard tendered his resignation prior to the conclusion of the investigation, which was accepted and effective immediately.

Nygaard became Sedgwick's police chief in November 2022. He previously worked as a police officer in Medicine Lodge and Andover.
