Wichita man sentenced to life for 2021 murder of Jacquez Carter

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A district judge sentenced Jesus Manzano-Legarda to life with the possibility of parole after 25 years for the shooting death of Jacquez Carter.
Police said that Carter was in his car at Harry and Topeka when someone in an SUV fired at him. Carter drove several blocks before hitting a pole at Harry and Washington. He died at the scene.
Jesus Manzano-Legarda was found guilty of 1st-degree murder and criminal discharge of a firearm.
Judge Brown sentenced the 23-year-old to life with the possibility of parole after serving 25 years for the 1st-degree murder and 13 months for the charge of criminal discharge of a firearm.
