SEDGWICK COUNTY, Kan. (KAKE) - An inmate accused of murder has died at the Sedgwick County Jail early Friday morning.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office said Marcello Ibarra repeatedly tried to injure himself and did not cooperate with the jail's medical team. He had been hospitalized at the jail 18 times since his arrest on August 15, 2021.

Ibarra was suspected of second degree murder, aggravated assault, being a fugitive from justice and was being held for Immigration.

The deceased inmate was taken to the Sedgwick County Coroner's Office.
