SEDGWICK, Kan. (KAKE) - A Sedgwick woman says she is willing to go to jail over a toilet planter in her front yard that has gotten some negative attention from neighbors.

Mistie Clark says in May she put a toilet in her yard to use as a planter. Three days later, authorities came to her house and requested she remove it.

"I don't live in an HOA, I've been here for 40 years and people have had toilets in their yard decorated for decades," Clark said.

Since that time, Clark received a citation stating the toilet, now planter, is a nuisance.  She has been given an ultimatum to either abide by the directives or go to court.  Clark has opted for court.  She said she feels her 1st Amendment right is being compromised and plans to fight for it.

She attended Saturday's Sedgwick parade in hopes of gaining community support.

Clark alleges it was her neighbors who turned her in saying the toilet was tacky.  In an email sent to us by Clark's neighbors, they state they did not make the call and that it could have been anyone in the neighborhood or a passersby.

Clark said she faces trial coming up soon and plans not to back down.

"I'm going to go to jail over this if they push it that far," she said.
