SUMNER COUNTY, Kan. (KAKE) - A 16-car train derailment has blocked a Sumner County intersection while crews work to clean up.

The Sumner County Sheriff's Office said the train derailed shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday between Chicaskia and Mayfield Road, west of Wellington. According to BNSF, the cars were carrying automobiles.

There were no injuries, and there was no danger to the public. Train traffic started moving through the area at 6:45 a.m. Friday.

The cause of the derailment is under investigation.
