WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - Wichita police need your help in catching an armed robber. He wasn’t armed with a gun or a knife, but a pair of scissors.

Security video shows a shirtless man jumping over the counter at Power Liquor on east Central on August 8th around 1:00 pm. He was carrying a pair of scissors.

You see him threaten the clerk and then steal cash from the register.

Long time customer Darrell Shaw says he can't believe how brazen the thief was.

"Just like any other new owner, I feel sorry for them,” said Shaw. “But it's part of life."

Wichita police say the thief got away with $2,000 in cash, and left the clerk terrified.

"Very bold,” said Crime Stoppers Coordinator Officer Kris Gupilan. “Looks like he had a plan, jumped over the counter in an aggressive manner, and I'm sure the clerk was terrified."

Police say if you take a close look you can see a marking on the man's back, and he has a very unique style of facemask, appearing to be a bandana.

“It's very important that we get this person off the street,” said Gupilan. “If he can do this so quickly, who's to say he won't go on to the next local store and do it again."
