Months have passed since teenager Miguel Alonzo was reported missing in southwest Kansas. The 15-year-old was last seen on March 26, 2023, in Garden City.

Miguel was placed in foster care for about a week and then ran off, Garden City Police explain. The department has limited information about the boy, but said his mom and dad are no longer here.

“His parents were either deported or voluntarily went back to Guatemala, and Miguel stayed behind,” said public safety administrative assistant Erinn Reyes with Garden City Police. “We don’t have information on any other relatives in the country.”

Miguel was not enrolled in school at the time. It is possible that he went to see friends in Elkhart, which is more than 100 miles southwest of Garden City. However, investigators do not have contact information for those friends.
