WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A 31-year-old man who was arrested in Missouri earlier this year has been extradited to Wichita to face child sex crime charges.

Sedgwick County Jail records show Matthew Charles was booked Tuesday afternoon for seven counts of rape of a child under the age of 14 and two counts of attempted aggravated indecent liberties with a child. He was held without bond Wednesday morning.

KOLR reports Charles was arrested in El Dorado Springs, Missouri on April 18 on a Sedgwick County fugitive from justice warrant. According to court documents, the alleged crimes happened between March 5, 2014 and March 4, 2019.

A spokesperson for the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office said it's a Wichita Police Department case from 2020 and that Charles has been charged.
